What one simple action can increase connection in a relationship?

Most of us fall into this trap; we think we’re listening, but here’s what we’re actually doing:

  • Planning what to say next

  • Judging

  • Defending our point

  • Trying to fix or correct

What if we just stopped?

No agenda. No fixing. Just hear them.

When you let someone talk without trying to change them, it opens the door for new possibilities.

This doesn’t mean you have to listen all the time; that would be exhausting and maybe not useful, but there are moments when this kind of listening can create a real connection.

Try this exercise: sit with someone you care about. Look them in the eye. Let them talk for five minutes about a joy, a struggle, or what matters most to them. And just listen.
