Being Trapped in a Jar

What if you were trapped in a jar?

You look through the jar, and there is glass separating you from the world. At some point, you get used to being in the jar.

Some stories start to develop: Maybe I deserve to be in the jar, and maybe I will never be out of the jar.

Now reflect on being in the jar:

What is the jar made of? (Shame, not-enoughness, hopelessness, powerlessness, stuckness)

How does it feel to be in the jar?

Now let’s say you are an observer watching a friend trapped in a jar.

How do you feel about this person trapped in a jar?

What would you tell him?

Would you want to help him and sit with him?

Now let’s say there is no jar.

How do you want to show up?

Who are you without the jar?

What becomes possible that was not possible before when you were in the jar?

What would you do if you were not stuck in that story?

The lesson in this:

Now imagine being trapped in a jar is like being trapped in your narrative or story.

What would you do if you were not trapped in a jar?
